Conshohocken Steelers Dominate IFL Champs 21-3
January 9, 2009
7 December 2008 - The CFA Champion Conshohocken Steelers hosted the Champions from the IFL in a battle of league kings. The game didn’t last long as the Steelers completely dominated the Frankford Chiefs in every aspect of the game. The Steelers took the opening kickoff to the Chiefs 40-yard line and then followed with a 40-yard TD by RB Brian Petis. The Steelers defense was equally as impressive holding the Chiefs to three (3) first downs, one of which was on a personal foul. The penalty led to a field goal by the visiting Chiefs, the only points they would score. The Steelers answered their opponents score with an impressive 55-yard “ground” drive, culminating with a John Noble TD from the 5-yard line. After another imposing defensive stand the Steeler “O” went back work. The Steelers’ opened the drive with a 40-yard flea flicker to Anthony Powell and ended the scoring drive with a 45-yard reverse for a touchdown by Phil Poole.Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately for the visiting Chiefs, the game had to be stopped in the middle of the second quarter with the Steelers comfortably ahead 21-3. Due to misconduct the game was called, sadly ending in the arrest of a Chief player thus ending the battle of champions - which was not as much of a battle as everyone expected. The Steelers have been invited to play with the countries elite teams in Florida this January. Stay tuned for details.
